Many a fallen soldier have found themselves trapped in the Friend Zone, that no-man’s-land where pretty girls put boys that they think of “like brothers.” Although sometimes this fate isn’t so tragic, it feels like it always happens with the one who’d be perfect for you. So how do you forego the one-way ticket into the friend zone?
1. Be comfortable, but not that comfortable.
You want to remain calm when talking to any girl but not so much that all the mystery disappears. If you wind up acting so natural that you’re okay burping and scratching your junk in front of her – Friend Zone. If you let down all your walls and wind up spilling your guts to her about every emotion you’ve ever felt – Friend Zone. If you’re so comfortable around her that you don’t wind up showing her somehow that you’re also physically attracted to her – Friend Zone. Stay cool, but don’t be so friendly that you wind up out in the cold of the Friend Zone.
2. Sugar and spice and everything nice – What you’re not to talk about.
There are certain topics girls discuss with their friends. If you talk to her about these things to often you will wind up being just that, one of her friends. Steer clear of anything you think is too girly or sweet, like how dreamy Edward Cullen is, how beautiful Justin Bieber’s voice is, or how majestic you think horses are . Furthermore, get out of any conversation about what she thinks about other boys or anything too in depth about her emotions or feelings for friends and family. These are okay to discuss if you’re officially dating, but broach these subjects before then and you’ll be taking up permanent residence in the Friend Zone.
3. Don’t be Mr. Predictable.
If you’re too nice and all your moves are expected than you’re in the express lane to the Friend Zone. Think about it – what makes a good friend? Someone who is always there for you and you know you feel good talking to. This isn’t far off from a being more than just friends. The only difference is that with someone more than just friends there is something inexplicable that draws them to you. Spice it up with something unpredictable every so often. Make sure you never fall into a comfortable pattern. With these steps you can forego the Friend Zone.
